In my quest to create my own DIY paper flower bouquet, I’ve scoured the internet for the ideal realistic paper flower tutorial. In a perfect world, there would be one that already exists, for the exact bouquet I want to make. But, of course, this isn’t the case.
Instead, I’ve been looking at a lot of different paper flower tutorials. There are some that use origami paper, and while they’re beautiful in their own right, its not the aesthetic I’m going for. So, the following tutorials are for realistic paper flowers, and involve mostly crepe paper and tissue paper.
If you want to skip the hassle of searching endlessly online for the perfect flowers for your bouquet, and then figuring out how to arrange them, there are actually a few books that do an excellent job of this for you. I’ll list the books first, and the tutorial links are down below!
I’ll be updating this post as I find more tutorials, so be sure to check back! 🙂
Realistic Paper Flower Books:
Livia Cetti’s The Exquisite Book of Paper Flowers is basically all you could ever need in terms of realistic paper flower tutorials. I’m completely obsessed with it. While there are plenty of solid tutorials online (which I will link below!), this book basically has any type of flower, greenery and accent that you could hope to make, plus some fun ways to arrange them. I haven’t been able to put it down, since snagging a copy!
Paper to Petal offers a different selection, with a little more whimsy and personality. Here, the colors are brighter and the flowers have a bit more pep. The step-by-step tutorials are great, and can help give you a better idea of what exactly you’re going for.
The Flower Recipe Book by Alethea Haramopolis is another resource I would highly recommend for DIY paper flower making. While this book is actually aimed at arranging live flowers, it’s a great resource for making paper flower bouquets as well. The modern, fun and rustic arrangements will bring life to any wedding bouquet, or decor.
